For 1978 a new Dodge Colt Wagon appeared, unlike the sedans and coupes not Lancer based but instead a rebadged version of the larger Mitsubishi Galant Sigma. The 1.6 liter MCA Jet four, as per the smaller sedans and coupes, was standard, with the 2.6 liter, 105 horsepower Astron engine optional along with a five speed manual transmission. Power dropped to 77 horsepower with the introduction of the MCA Jet high swirl system for 1978.
