The 1976 model year was the last for the Plymouth Valiant in the United States, which was marketed from the 1960 through the 1976 model years. It was replaced by the Plymouth Volare, and the compact Duster and Valiant family ended after sixteen years. The Valiant name had been used on the Plymouth since 1960, and the compact line's successor, the Volare, had been introduced in the middle of the 1976 model year and was sold in parallel with the Valiant and Duster until they ended.
