According to the May 1976 edition of Car and Driver, three out of five of Ford's top executives, including Henry Ford II, used the Mercury Grand Monarch Ghia, offered from 1975 to 1976 as the highest trim version of the Monarch, as their personal car. The Monarch was slotted between the compact Comet and the Montego, and shared its Falcon based chassis with the Ford Granada. It was the Mercury counterpart of the Ford Granada.
