The Consul name was discontinued in late 1975 after the UK Court of Appeal ruled that Granada Group could not prevent Ford registering the name Granada as a trademark, and the Granada name was then applied to all models. The 1975 Consul was a lower priced Granada built in Cologne and Dagenham, offered as the Consul, Consul L and Consul GT. The Consul was the lower specification version of the Ford Granada Mark I.
