The Triumph TR7 was built in Britain from September 1974 by British Leyland Motor Corporation, the sports car initially produced at the Speke factory in Liverpool. The TR7 had been launched in the US in January 1975, because the US statistically represented the most lucrative market for Triumph sports cars. A more powerful V8 engined version had been planned in the early stages of development, a prototype being produced in 1972.
