The design of the cylinder head of the Dolomite Sprint won a British Design Council award in 1974. Initial Sprint models were only offered in mimosa yellow, although further colours were available from 1974 on. The Dolomite Sprint of 1974 had a gearbox and differential from the TR and 2000 series, with a close ratio gearset, and was in its second year, built at Canley by British Leyland. The cylinder head won an award.
