For 1974 a five mile per hour bumper was added to the rear bodywork of the Mark IV, moving the taillights from the bumper into the rear bodywork. The opera window, standard since 1973, was a hallmark of the Mark series and remained until the Mark VI was discontinued after 1983. The Mark IV was a two door personal luxury coupe produced at the Wixom Assembly plant. The Mark IV, the third generation of the Mark series, grew in size over the Mark III and shared a chassis with the Thunderbird through 1976.
