1973 Austin FX4

Automobiles

The petrol engine was discontinued in 1973, leaving diesel as the only power for the FX4D. In the same year Carbodies' owner BSA, by then facing bankruptcy, sold it to Manganese Bronze Holdings, which was glad to go on making the FX4. The FX4 was by 1973 the main product of the coachbuilder, as contract work for private cars and commercial vehicles had gradually fallen away. Manganese Bronze later also acquired the taxi dealers Mann and Overton.
