Production of the Dolomite in full volume was reported only from October 1972, at Canley, Coventry, because of a number of strikes and other industrial upsets. The car was offered with a high level of standard equipment, including twin headlamps, a clock, full instrumentation, luxury seats and carpets, and a heated rear window. The Dolomite was aimed at the compact performance luxury sector, competing with the BMW 2002 and Ford Cortina GXL.
