1972 Ford Mustang

Automobiles

Tightening emissions rules ended the Boss 351 and the optional 429 big block after 1971, so the 351 became the largest engine for 1972 and 1973. Exterior differences were small, apart from a Fasten Seat Belt warning lamp on the dash. A commemorative Olympic Sprint Edition was sold from March to June, and mid year Ford offered a detuned 351 HO, of which 398 were built, in what the article calls the end of the muscle car performance engine era.
