The Morris badged 1100 and 1300 models were discontinued on the launch of the Morris Marina in 1971. The ADO16 was Britain's best selling car from 1968 to 1971, and for most of its production life, before finally being outsold by the Ford Cortina in 1972, it held around 15 percent of the new car market at its peak. The Austin and Vanden Plas versions remained in production until June 1974. The Marina took the place of the Morris 1100 and 1300.
