For 1971 the Cyclone was marketed as the Mercury Montego Cyclone, with minor styling updates, and the Spoiler received a revised stripe package. The Super Cobra Jet and Drag Pak options were gone, and the base engine for the base Cyclone and the Spoiler became the M code 351 Cleveland with a four barrel carburetor.
