Like the other General Motors divisions Buick completely restyled its B and C body cars for 1971, and the full size cars emerged larger and heavier than before. The styling featured curved bodysides, long hoods and wide expanses of glass. Automatic transmissions once again reappeared as standard equipment on LeSabres in mid 1971 and continued in such form until the model line's demise after 2005. The 1971 car was the first of the larger and heavier fourth generation, with automatic transmissions standard in mid year.
