For the 1969 model year the Bel Air was redesigned with a new length, new fender and body lines, and a new front and back end, but it continued to use the basic 1965 chassis, inner body structure and even the rooflines of the pillared two and four door sedans. It was the final year for the Bel Air two door sedan, and the Bel Air based station wagon was renamed Townsman, as Chevrolet reverted to using different nameplates on wagons.
