1968 Jeep CJ-5

Automobiles

The Buick V6 option proved so popular that by 1968 some 75 percent of CJ-5s were sold with it, replacing the underpowered Willys four cylinder as the engine most buyers chose. Power steering remained an 81 dollar option, and 1968 was also the last year of Kaiser's separate Tuxedo Park model for the CJ-5A and CJ-6A, which had run from 1964. Within a couple of years of its introduction the V6 had become the engine most buyers chose, which changed the character of the CJ-5.
