The 1962 Fury emerged as a downsized car on the new Chrysler B body unibody platform, a product of a Chrysler Corporation embroiled in several corporate controversies. Sales of the new model were slow, which prompted the Sport Fury trim package to be reintroduced as an upper trim. It was the first year of the Chrysler B body unibody platform for the Fury, and Plymouth reintroduced the Sport Fury as a trim package after a pause since 1959.
