The British Motor magazine tested a Westminster de luxe saloon in 1955, recording a top speed of 85.7 mph, acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 18.9 seconds and a fuel consumption of 20.2 miles per imperial gallon. From 1955 an overdrive unit could be specified with the four speed transmission, which has synchromesh on the top three ratios. The Westminster was a large six cylinder saloon, sold by Austin with overdrive. The car was tested by The Motor.
