For 1954 the range of color choices of the Country Squire was expanded from six to twelve, remaining single color exteriors, with red, blue and white, or green and white interiors replacing the previous tan and brown. In line with all Fords the Flathead V8 was replaced by the overhead valve Y block V8, increasing output from 110 to 130 horsepower, and the inline six was redesigned as a 223 cubic inch standard engine producing 115 horsepower.
