In September 1953 the Rover Company announced it would supply a four cylinder Rover 60 and a 2.6 liter Rover 90, adding them to the 75's 2.1 liter six. The Rover 60 was announced on 24 September 1953 with the 1997 cc 60 bhp engine used in the early Land Rover, and the top end Rover 90 appeared with a much larger 2.6 liter inline six. A floor mounted gear change replaced the column mounted unit in September 1953.
