The Corvette went into production late in the 1953 model year, and only 300 were built, which makes 1953 the rarest year of all. They were assembled largely by hand on a makeshift line in an old truck plant in Flint, Michigan, while a factory was readied for 1954, and each one differs a little because methods changed as the run went on. All of them were Polo White with a red interior, a blue painted engine and a black canvas top.
