Each code number of the M series was arrived at by dividing the gross vehicle weight rating of the series by one hundred, so that the Mercury truck of 1950 carried a code number that told buyers the weight rating. It was the Mercury counterpart of the Ford F Series. The Mercury M series was a line of trucks that Ford of Canada sold through Lincoln Mercury dealers, rebadged from the Ford F Series. It was sold mainly in Canada and followed the Ford trucks closely, differing largely in exterior trim.
