The E83W of 1945 had a three speed gearbox, and it was heavily geared down in the rear axle, so that it was slow but could carry a half ton load. It was built by Ford of Britain at Dagenham, and it was in production at the end of the war, in vans and chassis forms. It was sold as a Fordson and later as a Thames, and exported widely as Britain sought export sales after the war. The E83W was a half ton light commercial vehicle that Ford of Britain built at Dagenham, with a small side valve engine.
