During and after the Second World War many specialist variations such as mobile canteens, ice cream vans and even fire pumps were built on the E83W chassis, which was in production through the war. The E83W of 1940 was a half ton van made at Dagenham with a 30 horsepower engine. The E83W was a half ton light commercial vehicle that Ford of Britain built at Dagenham, with a small side valve engine. It was sold as a Fordson and later as a Thames, and exported widely as Britain sought export sales after the war.
