Commercially the Köln, with 11,121 cars produced between 1933 and 1936, was not a great success, since it faced heavy competition from Opel, DKW and Adler in its class. The 1936 Köln was a small car with a four cylinder engine, a rigid front axle and an upright body that seemed old fashioned. The Köln was a small German built version of the British Ford Model Y, built at Cologne from 1933. It faced strong competition from Opel, DKW and Adler and was replaced by the Eifel.
