The gearbox of the Austin Twelve was provided with synchromesh between its top two ratios in 1934, and there were no open tourers in the factory catalogue after 1934. The Twelve of 1934 had wire wheels in place of the artillery style wheels replaced in 1933, and was still a motor car introduced by Austin in 1921 and offered as a taxi option. The Twelve was Austin's medium sized car. The Twelve was in its thirteenth year.
