Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Siemens is a German engineering conglomerate founded in 1847 by Werner von Siemens in Berlin. In transport it produced the first electric locomotive in 1879, trams, electric railways and signalling equipment, and later high-speed trains such as the ICE 3 and the Velaro family. Its rail business operates as Siemens Mobility, and the Vectron locomotive is among its freight and passenger products. The company has also supplied tramways, metros and signalling systems to cities around the world, which makes it a major supplier to public transport operators.
