Siemens Velaro

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The Siemens Velaro is a family of high-speed electric trainsets built by Siemens and derived from the German ICE 3 platform. Rather than a single train, Velaro is a product line that has been adapted and sold to railways in multiple countries, including Spain, Russia, China and Turkey, each version tailored to local track gauges, power systems and operating conditions. Velaro trains are distributed-power designs, with traction motors spread under many of the cars rather than concentrated in separate locomotives, and versions of the platform have been used to set several national and commercial speed records for their respective operators.
