Guy Motors

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Guy Motors was a Wolverhampton vehicle maker founded by Sydney Guy in 1914 that built lorries, buses, trolleybuses and for a time cars until 1982. It began with a light 30 cwt lorry on a pressed steel frame and made aircraft engines and depth charge fuses in the First World War. A series of mergers made it part of Jaguar's group and then of British Leyland, where it was one of the few subsidiaries still operating at a profit, thanks to its Big J truck range, before the group closed it.
