Guy Arab

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Guy Arab was a bus chassis made by Guy Motors, introduced in 1933 as a double-deck chassis. In 1942 Guy launched a version adapted to wartime limits, with parts that had been aluminium made in cast iron, which raised its weight by 20 percent, and over 2,500 were built in the war years. After the war a single-deck version was added alongside a new double-deck Arab III, and the chassis stayed in production until the 1970s. The West Riding Automobile Company of Wakefield ran many, and in Hong Kong the Guy Arab V was one of the most iconic buses of the China Motor Bus company from the 1950s until 1997.
