SAIC (marque)

SAIC, known in Chinese as Shangjie and often called Shangjie in English to tell it apart from its parent, is an electric vehicle marque that SAIC Motor established in 2025. It is one of the brands in Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance, in which Huawei handles product creation and design and supplies technologies such as driver assistance and infotainment, while SAIC Motor builds the cars. The marque was announced in April 2025 as the fifth brand of the alliance, aimed at a younger audience and priced as the most affordable of them, in the mainstream segment below 200,000 yuan. SAIC Motor invested 6 billion yuan and put more than 5,000 engineers on integrating Huawei systems into its first model, internally coded ES39, and also invested in a large new factory modelled on the Seres plant in Chongqing. The first model, the H5 crossover, went on sale in September 2025, and the Z7 sedan followed with teasers in January 2026.
