CASA, short for Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA, was a Spanish aircraft manufacturer founded in 1923 by José Ortiz-Echagüe. It began building aircraft at Getafe in 1924, at first under licence from Breguet, and over the following decades it also built licensed aircraft from German, Soviet, American and other designs before turning to its own. Its own designs included the C-212 Aviocar, the CN-235 developed with Indonesia's IPTN, the C-295 and the C-101 Aviojet trainer. CASA was one of the original members of the Airbus consortium in 1972, became part of EADS in 1999 as EADS CASA, and was absorbed into Airbus Military in 2009. The make covers the aircraft that carry the CASA name.
