Toyota ToyoAce

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Toyota ToyoAce is a light to medium cab-over truck that Toyota has built since September 1954. Until a renaming contest in 1956 it was sold as the Toyopet Light Truck SKB. Since 1985 the ToyoAce and Dyna truck lines have been merged, with the Dynas generally intended for heavier work. The first generation was a one-ton truck of semi-cab-over design. Its model code letter K was shared with the Toyopet SK and RK trucks, a line that later became the Toyota Stout, and the chassis was shared as well. The first ToyoAce sold slowly because its price was much higher than that of the three-wheeled trucks it competed with, but after a large price cut it changed the Japanese light truck market in favour of four-wheeled vehicles.
