The Toyota BX is a 4,000 kg truck that Toyota built from 1951, about 6.6 metres long, whose styling closely resembled Ford's 1948 trucks. It replaced the BM truck introduced in 1947 and was considerably easier to build, with a cab that seated three rather than two. Its engine was the 3,386 cc Type B six-cylinder, producing 82 PS and giving a top speed of 72 km/h, and in September 1951 it was joined by the larger F-engined FX. Introduction planned for August 1950 slipped to June 1951 because of a two-month strike and Toyota's production commitments for the Korean War, and the truck was built at the Toyota Honsha plant. Exports went mainly to countries without their own car industries, and in 1954 the BX and FX were redesigned as the BA and FA.
