The Daihatsu V series was a family of cab over trucks built from 1958 to 1970, the first four wheeled vehicles Daihatsu had made since the Hatsudoki FA truck of 1937. It competed in the medium weight segment against the Toyota Dyna, Nissan Caball, Isuzu Elf, Prince Homer and Mazda D series. The first truck was the 2 tonne Vesta of 1958, using a 1.5 litre V-twin engine shared with the RKO three wheeler. In 1960 a 1.5 litre FA four cylinder engine made it the V200, and in 1962 a 1.9 litre FB engine and the 2.3 litre diesel D200 followed. The 1.25 tonne V100 came in 1964, then the 3 tonne V300 and diesel D300, and in 1968 a new 1 tonne V100 and the 1.5 tonne V150. A light bus was built on the same chassis. The Toyota Dyna based Daihatsu Delta replaced the series in October 1970.
