Mercedes-Benz Actros MP2

The Mercedes-Benz Actros MP2 is the second generation of the Actros heavy truck, internal series BM 930 to 934, introduced as a thorough facelift of the original truck for the 2003 model year after a little over six years of production. Mercedes kept the basic cab shape so the truck stayed recognisable, but gave it new headlights, available for the first time with bi-xenon units, a smoother front, a grille with fewer and broader slats and an interior with better materials. New engines meeting the Euro 3 limit brought slightly more power and torque, and models up to 335 kilowatts received a lighter rear axle, the HL 6. Options included an integrated rear section, super-single wide tyres, a single-driver cab layout and full CAN-bus integration of trailers and bodies. From 2004 the BlueTec engines with selective catalytic reduction followed, the first to meet Euro 4 and Euro 5, and in 2005 Mercedes built a Black Edition of 250 trucks with a 450 kilowatt V8. The facelift of 2008 is known as the MP3.
