The Leyland Constructor was a forward-control construction truck, mostly built as a tipper, launched in 1981 as the second model of the T45 programme of the British Leyland Motor Corporation. It replaced the Leyland Bison and Buffalo ranges. It was available as a 6x2, 6x4, 8x2, 8x4 and 8x8 with payloads between 10 and 30 tonnes, and also as a box van or tractor unit, with the T45 cab in normal or double sleeper form, optionally with a high roof and with a rubber floor covering instead of carpet. Chassis, brakes and tandem axles were carried over from the Bison and Buffalo and adapted. Power came from the Leyland TL11 six-cylinder diesel of 181 or 209 PS, raised to 260 PS in 1985, with Rolls-Royce and Gardner diesels as options on the 8x versions and later Perkins and Cummins engines of 300 PS, which made the Constructor 30:30 for a time the most powerful tipper in the world. From 1990 it was sold as the Leyland DAF 60, and production ran to the end of 1993 before the DAF 85 replaced it.
