The FX3 was the Austin London taxicab sold from 1948 to 1958, designed to meet the Metropolitan Police conditions of fitness. It was commissioned from Austin by the taxi dealers Mann and Overton, and the bodies were made by Carbodies of Coventry on an Austin chassis. It had an Austin petrol engine, then a Perkins diesel, and from 1956 Austin's own diesel, which became the most popular choice. It was replaced by the FX4. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the FX3 (1948 to 1958).
