Honda showed the fifth generation City in Bangkok, Thailand in September 2008, and launches in India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and China came in the months that followed. Honda gave the car a longer front overhang and wheelbase as well as a lower roof than the hatchback to give it more of an ideal sedan proportions. India got the car in November 2008, and the City turned out to be the company's best seller there.
