The 1992 model year is the first model year of the fifth-generation Civic listed here, which debuted in Japan on September 9, 1991 and was introduced in late 1991 in North America. The new car was larger and more aerodynamic, with a longer wheelbase and a raised cowl that allowed more suspension travel and a softer ride. The Civic VX was Honda's 1992 entry in the fuel economy race, with a 92 hp 1.5 litre VTEC-E engine, weight reduction and aluminum alloy wheels. The Japanese sedan took the name Civic Ferio, used from 1992 until 2006.
