The 1987 model year was the last of the second generation Honda Prelude. Honda released the third generation in the Japanese domestic market on 9 April 1987, and Wheels magazine named the Prelude its Car of the Year for 1987. The second generation felt like a mini grand tourer rather than a sports car, with large areas of glass and an entirely new design that carried over nothing from the first generation. The sources used for this page record no change to the second generation car specific to 1987.
