The third generation Odyssey built in Japan went on sale there in October 2003, the first full redesign since 1994, with a 5 door body, a body that was much lower, sleeker and closer to a car, and, for the first time, cruise control on the Japanese market Odyssey. The 2003 year also saw the Premium Sound Spirit variant, based on the MQ grade, go on sale in Japan in February 2003, and the Fine Spirit variant introduced in May 2003. The V6 engine was dropped completely, and Australian sales of the second generation in 2003 were only 649 units.
