China Railway CR200J

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The CR200J is a Chinese Fuxing trainset made up of a power car and unpowered passenger cars, operated by China Railway. It is the slowest member of the Fuxing series and the only one designed for existing railways at under 200 km/h rather than for newer high-speed lines. It was jointly designed and produced by six companies under CRRC. Development began on 28 August 2015, prototypes were testing by April 2017, and the train was formally put into service in January 2019 after China Railway announced new service lines. All sets are painted green, and the interior follows the design of the CR400 Fuxing trains with individual power outlets, Wi-Fi and larger legroom. A plateau variant, the CR200JS-G, is used on the Sichuan to Tibet railway. The type has drawn criticism over fares, reliability and appearance, and eleven six-car sets are expected on Malaysia's East Coast Rail Link in 2027.
