Hunt Transport Services was founded on August 10, 1961, by Johnnie Bryan Hunt and Johnelle Hunt in Arkansas and is now an American transportation and logistics company providing semi-trailer trucking and transportation services across the continental United States, Canada and Mexico. The company operates more than 12,000 trucks and 145,000 trailers and containers with 34,718 employees as of 2023, and generated $12.83 billion in revenue that year with $728 million in net income and $8.54 billion in total assets. It trades on NASDAQ as JBHT and is included in both the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Transportation Average. J.B. Hunt operates through four segments, intermodal transport, contract services, logistics and truckload shipping, with intermodal accounting for roughly two-thirds of the company's revenue and profit; in 2024 it acquired Walmart's intermodal equipment, 15,500 trailers, and purchased hydrogen-powered trucks from Nikola Corporation.
