Budd Company

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

The Budd Company was an American metalworking firm from Philadelphia, founded by Edward G. Budd, which pioneered pressed-steel car bodies and stainless-steel construction. In railways it built the Pioneer Zephyr in 1934, the first diesel streamliner, and later the Metroliner electric multiple units and many stainless-steel passenger cars. It also made aircraft parts and wheels, and the business was broken up in the 1970s and 1980s.
