Abarth is an Italian racing and road car maker and performance division founded by the Italo-Austrian Carlo Abarth, established in Bologna on 31 March 1949 with a scorpion on its shield badge after his star sign. It began by taking over Cisitalia assets and building racing sports cars, and made tuning parts such as exhausts and manifolds for Fiat, Lancia and Simca. The headquarters moved to Turin in 1951, and Carlo Abarth sold the company to Fiat on 31 July 1971, after which the name marked Fiat performance models and rally cars. The company was re-established as Abarth and C. S.p.A. on 1 February 2007, launching with the Grande Punto, and is now owned by Stellantis through its Italian subsidiary.
