Honda brought a number of upgrades to the VTR1000F from model year 2001, including a tank enlarged from 16 litres to 19 litres, internal changes to the front forks, black wheels, smaller indicators, and a riding position less extreme thanks to clip-on bars with a mild rake. A new LCD dash display comprised fuel level, engine temperature, dual trip mileometers, odometer and clock, and a Honda Ignition Security System immobiliser also became standard.
