The K4 model of 1979, with the UK version designated KZ, ended development of the GL1000 and was the last Gold Wing with a one liter engine. Changes were minor apart from the ComStar wheels, whose stronger steel spokes on aluminum rims replaced the original wheels with aluminum spokes, which had led to a recall in 1979 for the 1978 model year. Honda sold Hondaline saddlebags and a trunk during the final run, but it still did not offer a fairing.
