1978 Honda Gold Wing

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

Honda modified the engine of the GL1000 K3 in 1978 to give more torque at low engine speeds: carburetors 1 mm smaller, a redesigned exhaust system and altered valve and ignition timing. The kick start mechanism was dropped, a small instrument panel appeared on top of a restyled dummy fuel tank, and Honda's new ComStar wheels replaced the wire spoke wheels. Dry weight grew to 601 pounds. Neighbouring model years are linked from this page.
