The Bugatti W16 is a quad turbocharged W16 engine manufactured for the high performance luxury sports cars of the Bugatti marque since 2005. Its displacement is about 8.0 liters, and it is described as effectively two narrow angle VR8 engines, based on the VR6 design, joined at a 90 degree included angle on a common crankshaft. The cylinder block and crankcase are forged aluminum alloy with plasma coated bores, the crankshaft is die forged steel, the connecting rods are lightweight titanium, and the engine uses a dry sump oiling system. Output ranges from 987 to 1,825 horsepower across its versions, the most powerful being in the Bugatti Bolide. It succeeded the Bugatti V12 engine, and in 2022 Bugatti announced the W16 would be retired, with the Bugatti Mistral as the last car to use it.
