The Thomas Saf-T-Liner Conventional, often called the Thomas Conventional, was a bus body made by Thomas Built Buses, listed in its article as built from 1972 to 2002, although the last example of the 1972 style was delivered in December 2006. It was made mainly as a yellow school bus, with commercial and specialty versions as well. The Saf-T-Liner name first appeared in 1957 and became permanent in 1972, when Perley A. Thomas Car Works was renamed Thomas Built Buses and the Conventional was redesigned with rub rails running around the whole body, flattened roof caps to fit eight-lamp warning systems and a larger windshield. Safety upgrades for 1977 federal rules followed. Bodies were built in High Point, North Carolina, with others made in Woodstock, Ontario and Monterrey, Mexico. The version on the Freightliner FS-65 chassis is told apart by a four-piece windshield, and the Saf-T-Liner C2 took over from 2004.
